OUR ADOPTERS

At Femme Felines, our mission is to match each of our rescued cats with a loving, responsible home where they can truly thrive. On average, each cat receives about 10 adoption applications. We are deeply grateful for every person who takes the time to apply—it means so much to us and to the lives you're hoping to change!

Our Commitment

We carefully review every application to find the best fit for both the cat and the adopter. When selected, we ask adopters to share our commitment to the lifelong care and well-being of their new feline companion. While we understand that emergencies and unforeseen circumstances can arise, we work hard to avoid returns whenever possible—for the sake of the animal's emotional and physical well-being.

Returning to the rescue after settling into a new environment can be very stressful for a cat or kitten. The transition into a new home already involves adjusting to new smells, people, sounds, and possibly other pets. A disrupted adoption can be emotionally confusing and traumatic for them.

Transparency & Preparation

We believe in full transparency. Any known behavioral or medical concerns will be clearly communicated before adoption. You'll also receive a helpful packet with guidance on how to best support your new cat or kitten as they settle into their new home.

Understanding the Adjustment Period

It’s normal for kittens—especially those rescued from difficult or traumatic situations—to need time to adjust. Some may settle in within a few days, while others take several weeks. You may notice signs of stress such as shyness, hiding, fear-based behavior, reduced appetite, or litter box issues. These are common and often resolve with patience, consistency, and love.

We recommend starting your new cat or kitten in a small, quiet space (like a bathroom) where they can feel safe. Once they begin to relax, you can gradually introduce them to the rest of your home and any resident pets.

In Case of Returns

Although we do our best to ensure every adoption is successful, we understand that sometimes a return may be necessary. In such cases, we accept returns within one week of adoption and require a $75 relinquishment fee. This fee helps cover supplies and any necessary medical care for the returning animal.

Thank you for supporting our rescue and choosing to adopt!

We’re here to support you every step of the way as you welcome your new feline family member!
